Former WPIAL phenom Micah Mason has decided to play basketball at Duquesne and - at least as far as we know right now - will sit a year as per NCAA transfer rules.
Mason used his 15 minutes per game rather well as a freshman at Drake, averaging 5.4 points and 2.2 assists per game. Notably, Mason put up 11 points and 4 assists against then-#13 Creighton. He also contributed 14 points and 4 boards in a losing effort against NCAA Cinderella Wichita State back in January. He shot just over 48% from the field, including over 50% from beyond the arc.
Those who follow the Dukes recruiting know that Mason is a very talented guy who has all the upside in the world. He is a gifted shooter and holds the WPIAL record for three pointers on top of scoring over 2,000 points during his high school career.
Welcome to the bluff, Micah! We all look forward to cheering for you on the court. It's only a shame that we have to wait a year to do so.
