Following a recent visit, PG Desmond Ridenour became the third member of the class of 2013. Originally from Cleveland, Ridenour prepped this season after academic issues prevented him from enrolling in the fall.
Ridenour's 2013 recruitment was very quiet. Last year, he was pursued by a number of MAC including Akron, Ohio and Kent before he committed to Dayton in August. He averaged 17.1 points per game as a senior at Benedictine High School scoring in double figures all but one game.
I couldn't find any unedited game film and I prefer not to evaluate a player based on highlight reels alone. However, he appears to be a flashy player who has no issue with making said highlight reels. I suspect that if he can hang in the A-10, he'll develop into an entertaining player at the least. He was rated as one of the top 3 point guards in Ohio's class of 2012 and was a candidate for Mr Basketball.
Ridenour likely becomes the back up PG behind Derrick Colter immediately, but from evaluations I've read he sounds like he could slot in as the two off the bench as well. I have no clue what his ceiling is or what his strengths and weaknesses are. However, he appears to be the extra ball handler the Dukes so desperately needed. Looking forward to seeing him more in the summer league.
